Spectrum of Speech

I had a great discussion with Onyedikachi Amaechi-Okorie of Spectrum of Speech in Nigeria on how our differences play out in common or different ways across cultural borders, how Digital Public Goods and Open Source tech can span those boundaries. Non-typical speech confounds many people who assume speech is a representation of intelligence or communication skills, when it can represent something entirely different! A lot touched on how inclusive design requires gaining real insights into the people it’s for in their own way, and approach this with alternative and personalised methods to communications, listening and self-expression. We need to look outside ourselves to understand others as well as apply lived experience.
